Get to Know Rose
An interview with Rose Signore owner of PostalAnnex+ of Alpine
In addition to being a wife and mother, Signore is a savvy businesswoman, a strong supporter of the Alpine region and she was Alpine’s Honorary Mayor for 2017. The Chamber recently sat down with Signore to learn more about her and her local business.
When did you buy the PostalAnnex+ of Alpine and why?
Signore: I bought it in May of 2013. My husband and I sold our commercial heating and air business. I was looking for something to do myself. I worked for the Postal Service for 18 years so I had the background. We lived in Blossom Valley then, so it was close. It felt like a win-win. I’ve moved up here since then because we fell in love with Alpine.
How many employees did the business have then and now?
Signore: Just myself and my nephew, Anthony, at first. He was just out of high school. Now I have three employees ---- one full-time and two part-time. And we have two dogs. The dogs work for treats.
What services does Postal Annex provide for this area?
Signore: Shipping, printing, faxing and e-mail. We do notaries. We have a great little gift store. We truly are your one-stop shop.
What is your business philosophy?
Signore: Treat the customer like you’d want to be treated. Give good customer service.
You’re very involved in the community. What groups, organizations and causes do you support and why?
Signore: I’m in the Kiwanis Club of Alpine and I’m on the board of directors for the Kiwanis Foundation. I’m also on the Board of Directors of the Alpine Chamber of Commerce. I’m a big supporter of the Kylie Rowand Foundation and I do printing for the holiday Gift Bag Drive. I have a heart to serve. I want to share my blessings.
Do you have any hobbies?
Signore: I don’t have enough time for hobbies, but I’m looking forward to retirement. We travel when we can. I like traveling with my husband, friends and family. We like to entertain at home. We’re of Italian descent and I like to cook.
What is the most important thing you would like to tell people?
Signore: I think everyone should get involved in the community. I feel strongly about participating in your community. You don’t need to own a business to be involved in the community. Just do it!
